after much analysing the different characters students have, i've come to a conclusion that there are two types of ways on how they can be very competitive.
type A. those people who fall under this category are amongst those who present themselves confidently and never really care about what others might say. as long as they do what they have to do, and as long as they satisfy their egoism, they can't feel more happy. these people acquire what they want to achieve, by hook or by crook. or should i express it in malay peribahasa, pipit pekak bermakan hujan. pardon me should there be any mistake in that. these people are known to be egoistic, for all they care about is to excel in their studies. and due to that, the aim they prioritise the most is to win other students in terms of class/level position or getting good grades etc. the bottomline is, they just want to perform better than their friends. these group of people compete others by working extremely hard and never give others any chances to overtake them.
on the other hand, type B consists of a group of students who also, are very competitive but they differ than type A in some ways. type B are people who have similar aims as those categorised under type A. however, these people attain success by making sure that others topple and fall. some may work hard, whilst some just let days pass them by. but one thing they're very good at is to make others complacent and to influence them as much as they can in order to see failure in them. these people tend to feel happy upon other's sufferings and stumblings, for they know they'll be one of the diligent ones without having to work as hard.
maybe if you want to see these scenarios in a clearer view, let's picture a 2.4 km race. someone in type A will run constantly no matter how tired that particular person is. he/she therefore never gives in to failure and continues to run, trying not to let the people behind him to catch him up and at the same time, persevering to catch up the ones ahead of him. for someone in type B, knowing that they can't emerge in first place or any of the positons they want to achieve, they turn to influencing their fellow friends. "run slower", they might say. or maybe, "wait up. you should always wait for me, you know. i'm your friend. we shall run this race together". but of course, that fellow will eventually betray his friends and takes that opportunity to run faster and reach his destination before others.
now that i realise there are such people, i begin to wonder what should i do to express my competitiveness such that it benefits me and not bring about a lose-lose situation i have to face.
